Vivo has launched the Z1 Pro’s upgrade- they have named it, Vivo Z1x. It is just an example of making a winning product even better at the same price. Vivo has extracted all the pros from the Vivo Z1 Pro and has made some enhancements like a better camera, an AMOLED display, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. All of them are happily welcomed by tech fans. But, is it a worthy sibling to upgrade? Does this price justify its value? Let’s find out in the Vivo Z1x review below:

Design and display

The design of Vivo’s Z1x is nothing but flashy and conventional. Vivo has bid adieu to dual-tone gradient design and has brought the gaudier color scheme on the phone. The rear is glossy, reflective, and not at all smudge-free. The frame is polycarbonate built with flat panels. On the front, there is a waterdrop notch on the top of the screen with an earpiece above it. The screen is not protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass but by Schott Xensation 3D glass. On the right, you get to see the volume and power buttons while the dedicated Google Assistant button and dual nano-SIM card tray is on the left. The speaker grille, USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and microphone are on the bottom edge.

Coming to the display, the Vivo Z1x sports a 6.38-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1,080 x 2,340-pixel resolution. Vivo claims that the display covers 103 percent of the NTSC color gamut and offers 430 nits of peak brightness. Otherwise, it has got a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. Enough about numbers now! This display produces solid colors, is punchy, and vibrant at the same time. But, it is a bit reflective which might disturb your movie-watching experience at times.

Performance

Under the hood, this device has got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor, which also ticked the heart of the Vivo Z1 Pro and is paired with 6GB of RAM. The phone comes in two storage variants – 64GB storage variant priced at Rs. 16,990, and 128GB model priced at Rs. 18,000. But, the storage must is non-expandable, so you must go for the 128GB variant. The device works smooth like a breeze – thanks to the Snapdragon 712. It can easily handle day-to-day tasks, heavy multitasking, and intensive gaming. This device never shows the signs of slowing down which speaks about its CPU and GPU performance prowess. As a result, it scored 1,917 in Geekbench 4’s single-core test and 6,014 in the multi-core test.

The Vivo Z1x runs Fun touch OS 9.1 out of the box based on Android 9 Pie.

Cameras

The Vivo Z1x comes with a triple-camera module at the back which includes a 48-megapixel (f/1.79) primary lens with the Sony IMX582 sensor, an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2-megapixel (f/2.2) depth sensor. The primary lens is capable of taking some vibrant and well-detailed pics in daylight. The close-up shots came out to be strong and it is the biggest strength of the Vivo Z1x camera module. The wide-angle lens and depth sensor complemented the primary lens very well. For selfies, you get a 32-megapixel front camera which takes really good selfies and I kid you not when it comes to selfies and pics.

Battery Life

The new Vivo Z1x packs a high-capacity 4,500mAh battery which is good for providing you a long-lasting one whole day experience. You can have around two hours of PUBG Mobile at high graphics, answer some calls, access your social media accounts, around listen to music for hours, and still, you will have around 30 percent juice left in the tank at the end of the day. On the HD video loop test, the phone stayed awake from around 19 hours. The device is hipped with a 22.5W charger which can take the battery from zero to 50 percent in just 40 minutes and takes around one and a half hours to charge it fully. Final Verdict

The Vivo Z1x comes with an impressive design that is flashy and eye-catching. It is a solid device and a bit bulky too- sitting on the larger side. It packs an AMOLED display which makes it a good upgrade over Vivo Z1 Pro. Day-to-day performance is not an issue with this device and camera quality decent for this price. The battery life is great and shows its endurance. Compare it to Z1 Pro, it is a meaningful upgrade and you can see it. At the price of Rs. 16,990, the Vivo Z1x is a great option and is an all-rounder package. Although, this phone has many rivals like Realme X, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Oppo K3 but you have to make a choice here.
