- The suction side of the pool, which includes skimmers and the main drain.
- The pressure side of the pool, which includes return jets.
- The filtration system, which involves two parts the filter and the pump. The unit contains two parts the pump and the motor, which is used to such the water in and out. The filter is used to clean out the water from tiny particles of debris.
- Whether it has a chlorine generator like astral pool chlorinator, or you add chlorine manually.
- Additional equipment such as heater and chemical feeder.
Maintaining the Three Cs of the Pool
Remember, still and stagnant water is not a good sign. Moving water is cleaner and safer; that is why proper pool circulation is the key to healthier swimming. Maintaining good flow in a pool barely has issues like pool algae and cloudy water. Thus, it is vital to run the pool pump and filter system to maximize circulation.
It is highly recommended to run the filters at least ten to twelve hours a day. This will keep your pool clean and safe. Another method is backwashing your pool filters frequently, which means reversing the flow of water and preventing the contaminants and dirt to the waste port.
By doing proper circulation, you have already made the cleaning task much easier. However, you will need to do some traditional elbow grease, which includes some basic tools that are pool brush, net skimmer, and a pool vacuum.
Things like leaves, mold, residues from oils and shampoos are simply unavoidable, thus cleaning your pool from the risks of bacteria is an important part of safe swimming. Pool chemistry might sound complicated and intimidating, but that’s not the case. While it is an essential part of water care and effective pool maintenance, pool chemistry is surprisingly simple. The most important thing you need to do is “pool water testing.” Understanding your pool water is the first step to do to balance it. Pool water chemistry includes four important parts:
- pH levels will measure how basic or acidic your pool water is. The ideal range should be from 7.4 to 7.6.
- Alkalinity helps avoid spikes in acidity or basicity, and the ideal range should be 100 to 150 parts per million (ppm).
- Check the sanitizer levels and the amount of bromine, chlorine, etc. in the pool water. The levels differ depending on what kind of sanitizer you use.
- Make sure the pool is clean even after the sanitizer is maxed out, don’t forget to add “pool shock” regularly. Try to shock your pool at night and run the pump for seven to eight hours to ensure it’s fully circulated.
Owning a pool is an amazing way to have fun in the sunshine. It needs proper care and maintenance to keep your pool sparkling clean, but that does not mean you have to spend your life struggling with your vacuum and doing chemistry test. Knowing how your pool functions and planning ahead will give you peace of mind with thorough pool care.
