Leh Ladak is known as the abode of natural beauty. The enchanting landscapes and the stunning beauty of Leh Ladakh is unmatched in whole of India. Leh Ladakh is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in whole of India.The uniqueness that Leh Ladakh has to offer makes it one of the most prominent travel destinations in the entire country. The popularity of the place can also be attributed to the fact that Leh Ladakh has some of the most beautiful places to visit. Few places one can go to while on a trip to Leh Ladakh are:

 

  • Pangong Tso Lake

The Pangong Tso rose to fame for being the place where the climax scene in the movie 3 idiots was shot. Apart from 3 idiots, the lake has been used as a location for other movies also. Along with the Bollywood significance of the lake, it is also famous for the changing colour of the lake throughout the year. The colour of the lake doesn’t remain the same, rather it keeps on changing from blue to green to other shades. The Pangong Tso Lake is located at an altitude of 4,350 meters on the Changtang Plateau. The Pangong lake extends all the way from Tibet to India and is 12 Kms long. Due to the low temperature at high altitude, the lake remains frozen during the winters. The exceptional beauty of the lake makes it one of the most visited destinations in Leh Ladakh.

  • Shanti Stupa

Shanti Stupa is one of the finest Tibetan structures built in the extreme north of India. This white-dome structure is located at an altitude of 11,841ft on the hill top of Chanspa( a village in the Ladakh district of Jammu and Kashmir). The peaceful serenity offered by the Stupa draws many tourists towards it throughout the year. Along with the peaceful vibe of the Stupa, it is also famous for the paranomic view of the valley. Shanti Stupa overlooks the city of Leh and is at a distance of 5km from the city. 

 

  • Leh Palace

The Leh Palace reflects the grandeur of the yesteryears of the city called Leh located in Ladakh district of the Indian state, Jammu and Kashmir. The Leh palace was constructed in the 17th century by the King Sengge Namgypal. The nine storey Palace was a artitecture marvel in its time and still remains one of the striking buildings of the valley. The Royal Palace of Leh offers panoramic views of the beautiful Zanskar valley and the city of Leh. Along with the stunning views the palace also offers the best view to enjoy sunrise and sunset in the valley.  

 

  • Magnetic Hill

The strangeness of Magnetic Hill attracts lots of tourists to the place. The other name of the hill is the “Gravity Hill”. As Magnetic hill is a place where laws of gravity don’t work. Rather than moving downward, an stationary object starts moving in upward direction.The Border Road Organization also has drawn several white boxes along the road so that people can park their vehicles over there and witness the strange phenomena themselves. The Magnetic hill lies at a distance of 30 Km from Leh and is located at a height of 14,000 ft. There are no answers as to how the Magnetic hill defies the rules of gravity which also contributes to its popularity.

 

  • Zanskar Valley

Zanskar Valley comes under the category of one of the remotest tourist destinations in India. The Zanskar mountain range separates the valley from the rest of the country. Zanskar Valley is located at an altitude of 13,154ft above sea level and is spread across an area of approximately 5000sq km. The geographical location of Zanskar Valley makes it the ultimate destination for adventure activities like trekking and river rafting. The heavy snowfall in the area makes Zanskar Valley inaccessible for nearly 9 months in a year.Zanskar Valley’s alluring beauty, cave monasteries, glacier mountain tops and mesmerizing scenery makes the valley one of must visit places when travelling to Leh Ladakh.

 

  • Nubra Valley 

Nubra Valley is known for housing one of the highest deserts in the entire world. Nubra Valley is 140 Kms away from the city of Leh and falls under the ancient silk route. Another thing that the Nubra Valley is famous for is its Bactrian camel rides. The two-humped camels were the source of transportation on the silk route and the factor that attracts people to Nubra valley. The valley is under military protection which means that everyone entering the valley must have the permits and necessary documents.
